Palestinian director Mohammed Bakri offers an intimate view of Arab life in this 2009 documentary about his elderly aunt. Through interviews with the 80-year-old Zahara and her children and grandchildren, Bakri chronicles the woman's displacement to a Lebanese refugee camp during the 1948 Arab-Israeli conflict, as well as her later experiences as wife of an organizer who worked to build a collectivist Arab community under Israeli governance. The film also explores the lives of Zahara's ten children and their numerous offspring, paying tribute to the courage, faith, and indomitable spirit of this peasant matriarch. In Arabic with subtitles.
