Re: “Modernist dining and daring cocktails at Andersonville's Premise

I wish neither to make friends nor enemies; I have more than enough of the former, and, because I'm a pretty decent person, I've very few of the latter; If you want to drink, first round will be on me. Any bourbon will do, and I don't need ice anymore than you do. My pride isn't wounded, not even a bit. If you really want to have a drink and discussion, you can message me via facebook. Until then, enjoy your beverages, sir.

Re: “Modernist dining and daring cocktails at Andersonville's Premise

@ Ben hates Twitter:

I'm from Wisconsin, fucker. Anyone who wants to tell me I'm not serious about drinking and everything related to it can meet me at any bar, anywhere in this city for a drinking session. I'm happiest when drinking a whiskey and some sort of mixer, yet occasionally, I enjoy a well-crafted cocktail made by a bartender who knows their business. I've never called myself a mixologist. Anybody who self-applies that term is a pretentious ass, and I can tell you that after meeting several of these idiots in my time.

There is room for plenty of different kinds of drinkers in this world. You say that you "remain untroubled by the soap-opera dramas in the world of so-called mixology." Doesn't sound that way, man. If you have a chip on your shoulder, I'll gladly knock it off for you.

As I said, any bar in the city, any night of the week. I might be late, since I work till 1 or so most nights, but I'll make up for my lateness, you can bet on that.

BTW, I hate Twitter too, so we at least have something in common.

Re: “Modernist dining and daring cocktails at Andersonville's Premise

As a former bartender at In Fine Spirits under Cody Modeer, I take absolute exception to the idea that Andersonville was "bereft of a serious place for cocktails ever since Ben Schiller left In Fine Spirits to join the BOKA Group in 2009." Cody's cocktails were among the finest available in the city, and certainly the best available north of Violet Hour. They were classic, simple yet complex, elegant, and, most importantly, delicious. I very much look forward to Cody's new bar, Ward 8, and I hope that he'll soon get his due as one of the best bartenders in this or any other city.
