Theatre-Hikes' production of Clark Gesner's Peanuts-inspired musical, directed by Matthew Powell, brings Charles Schulz's characters to life outdoors. In a slight change from the usual MO, the show features an extended hike during intermission rather than jaunts between scenes, but that suits this colorful hodgepodge of vignettes, songs, and one-liners. A musically inclined and highly comedic cast (they double as the orchestra) provide spot-on physical comedy for the young ones in the audience and sarcasm, ennui, and adorable angst for the adults. Standouts include Marissa Druzbanski, offering temper tantrums and unforgiving advice for a nickel as Lucy Van Pelt, and Kristin McGuire as Charlie Brown's kid sister, Sally, chasing rabbits with a vengeance and protesting a bad grade with the eloquence of a debater. —Marissa Oberlander
