This play gets a green light only if you're eager for the next Friends knockoff. Andrew Pederson has written a literate, fast-paced, sometimes very funny, but absolutely empty comedy about dating. His characters have no jobs, no lives, and no interests beyond meeting "the one." This comic obsession fuels and focuses the action, but can also give it a claustrophobic feel. The cast of Brian Fruits's production for Just Passing By Theatre Company deliver their rat-a-tat dialogue well--especially leads Justin Verstraete and Quincey Krull. But there's just one inspired scene: in a bit channeling the absurdity of Monty Python, a guy insists on restarting his disastrous blind date over and over again. --Laura Molzahn
