Re: “The Reader's general manager is let go

I had to priviledge of working with and knowing Mary Jo when she was operations manager for the Reader and I was circulation manager for the Washington City Paper, a rag it owned in DC. She was the consummate professional, always working to make the papers better, and available to discuss/disagree/detail/direct any ideas and suggestions for giving the reader the optimal experience. It is too bad that someone with such institutional memory, great managerial skills, and a love of what the Reader was (and possibly could be) would get pushed aside so unceremoniously. And the fact that she was one of the few women working at that level in the field makes her dismissal even more disconcerting.
