You need to give equal space to the boatnerds instead of taking one man's opinion--which was very incorrect ["The Steel Sailors," February 9]. Yes, we do exist and can be found wherever we can photograph a boat. You should really attend the annual Unplanned Picnic, this year on June 28 at Mission Point in Sault Sainte Marie, Michigan. We will also attend Engineers Day at the Soo Locks and continue photographing at Mission Point and the Rock Cut. Boatnerds can also be found in quantity at their semioffical hangout at Vantage Point in Port Huron. Ask for Freighter Frank. They also hold annual gatherings at the Welland Canal. Many sailors will tell you that boatnerds are also friends when help is needed--a ride to somewhere, etc. Your article has been posted on the official boatnerd Web site--Great Lakes and Seaway Shipping Daily News. This will get you to the news site. Click on the home button and check out all the info available and the fantastic photos.
