After a cabdriver loses his memory in a traffic accident, the neighbors in his Istanbul apartment complex keep close tabs on him, though some—especially his father—think that he's faking. The police suspect the cabbie of having taken part in a jewel heist, but their investigation is muddied by the wacky neighbors scrambling to hide their own guilty secrets. A curvaceous gymnast and an unwed mother add a plaintive erotic charge to this lighthearted Turkish comedy (2004), whose pixilated sensibility suggests an earthier Amelie. Reha Erdem directed, and Florent Herry contributed the luscious, sun-drenched cinematography. In Turkish with subtitles. 128 min.
