What Women Want

Mel Gibson is a smugly successful adman who finds himself taking orders from a female creative director the very day he'd expected to be promoted to her position. After a not-gimmicky-enough accident mysteriously enables him to hear women's thoughts, he moves from chauvinist to empathizer to feminist to emotionally vulnerable male—a transition that might be more appealing if it weren't so mechanically scripted. With Helen Hunt. PG-13, 126 min.
