Randolph Scott and Robert Young lay the first coast-to-coast telegraph wire in Fritz Lang's 1941 western. The genre really doesn't suit Lang, though he had a profound respect for it: all of those wide-open spaces seem inimical to Lang's characteristic moods of intensity and entrapment. Still, he gives it his best, and there is one remarkable 180-degree shot announcing the arrival of the Indians.
