Wasabi | Logan Square | Japanese, Small Plates | Restaurant
BYO Japanese restaurant specializing in home-style dishes including ramen.

Our Review

Wasabi opened as an all-in-one restaurant offering Japanese specialties—sushi, small plates, yakitori, katsu, ramen, donburi, tempura, teriyaki—yet specializing in nothing in particular. More's the pity: the opening chef, Hiromichi Sasaki, was one of pioneers of Japanese food in Chicago; a more natural setting for this elder statesman might have been be a traditional spot like Sunshine Cafe or the late Ginza Restaurant. Perhaps chef-owner Satoko Takeyama felt the same way—it wasn't long before she'd retooled the menu to focus on ramen and other Japanese traditional fare. A few additional dishes were worthy of recommendation from the start, notably the fried chicken and the kimchi-pork spring rolls. Read the full review >>
