Anthology, Horror, Thriller
This horror anthology collects six shorts of varying quality, all purported to be found footage. My favorite is Ti West's "Second Honeymoon," with Joe Swanberg and Sophia Takal as a couple who encounter a mysterious stranger while vacationing in the southwest. The most natural in its use of first-person perspective, it's also the sole episode without any supernatural elements, which bolsters the supposed realism of the found-footage conceit. Swanberg contributes an episode of his own in which ghosts continually interrupt the video chats of two long-distance lovers; it plays like a ghoulish variation on his Uncle Kent (2011), which incorporated the same technology. The other four directors were Adam Wingard, David Bruckner, Glenn McQuaid, and Radio Silence.
Director: David Bruckner, Glenn McQuaid, Joe Swanberg, Ti West and Adam Wingard
