Burt Lancaster and Kirk Douglas play the inevitably cuddly tough-guy couple, an erstwhile train-robbing pair paroled after 30 years in prison, who decide to go back to their old line of work (maybe they should have called this The Grey Fox II). Not much to chew on here; the two old stars are asked to play themselves, or at least their familiar screen personas, which have, unfortunately, aged into caricature: Douglas seems more explosively wired than ever, while Lancaster's patriarchal gravity, saturnine and wise, seems to be his only note of screen definition (it's appealing shtick, but shtick nonetheless). Director Jeff Kanew (Revenge of the Nerds) doesn't have many expressive notes to play either; he simply trots his cast through the arbitrary twists and turns of his scenario with hardly a nod to personal involvement. Some easy tears here and there over the plight of the nursing-home elderly, though I think the seniors will be in for a few more insults when this geriatric come-on shows up on their rec-room TVs. With Alexis Smith, Dana Carvey, Darlanne Fluegel, Eli Wallach, and Billy Barty.
