I was extremely excited to try this restaurant, especially when Chicago Magazine recommended it as one of the top 25 places to dine out in Chicago. But wow, was I greatly dissapointed.
I thought that the service was slow, and both of the entrees that my partner and I ordered were mildly pleasant at best. The salsa on the fish special (that came so highly regarded by our server) was the only good thing about the dish. The fish was a bit too overcooked, the rice was exctremly dry and unflavorful, and the pairings of the three were mismatched. The other entree that was ordered, Lobster with some sort of Julienned carrots atop the individual pieces, was only better by a margin, probably because I love lobster so much. However, this dish really missed the mark as well, with a lack of complexity and excitement in the preperation.
As for the atmosphere, the level of light was nice and romantic, but the spacing and layout of the tables lead away from intimacy. You feel like you are sort of out there in space and not nearly close enough to the person you are dining with.
Overall, I imagine this place being trendy for a few more months
and then falling to the wayside, because with food like that, it won't last long.
