A different guest monologist inspires long-form improv each week. On the night I attended, Pastor Dave Owen-O'Quill of Micah's Porch Community Church told his tale of a grungy upbringing in Seattle, a stuffy stint studying theology at the University of Chicago, and a posting to a church in Corpus Christi, Texas, where anyone whose car gets over 10 mpg must be a Marxist. A large cast of improvisers built clever bits based on Owen-O'Quill's unusual congregants and tenuous relationship with southern values. Female duo Slightly Altered opened with physical comedy inspired by the audience suggestion of "springtime flowers," and Tibia closed with an encore set based on an audience member's run-in with unplanned pregnancy and meth labs in rural Iowa. --Marissa Oberlander
