A little history of motion-simulation movies is supposed to provide a context for some snippets of them—a strategy that's distracting and disingenuous. Instead of being an example of a form of entertainment you might be unfamiliar with and curious about, or even a documentary about that form, this Omnimax presentation is really just a commercial for ride films—movies that trick you into perceiving yourself to be in motion. Forty minutes of straight motion-simulation footage might be intolerable, but this bet-hedging hybrid deliberately piques your interest only to leave you unsatisfied.
