Re: “Would you let your children listen to Justin Roberts?

The problem I have with this article starts with the disingenuous headline.

"Would you let your children listen to Justin Roberts?
The Chicago kids' musician is up for a Grammy this weekend, so the Reader asked seven local rock parents what they think of his latest album."

Discussion of the album was an actual AFTERTHOUGHT in each interview so the article isn't about RECESS. I'm not sure what its about but its not what I was looking for which was some intelligent and bright discussion about a brilliant album from our city. So disappointed.

When Chicagoan Mavis Staples was up for a Grammy why didn't we we take this same approach? Could it be that there is some bias in the 'industry' about artists who 'only make children's music?'

I have no children but last summer, I had one CD in my car for three weeks straight. It was RECESS. I couldn't stop listening to it. Its a record my friends and I would ROCK OUT too and yet can also introduce younger listeners to higher musical concepts.

Oh, sorry, I should just put on the Ramones. That's just dumb ass.
