The Water Coolers: An Office Musical

Early in this unswervingly middle-of-the-road revue about contemporary office life comes a parody of the soft-rock standard "Manic Monday," refitted with lyrics like "It's just another panic Monday." That little uninspired joke is pretty representative of the entire show, created by Thomas Michael Allen and Sally Allen. Made up of short scenes and songs about cubicles, computer problems, important presentations, and such, it's genial, capably produced, and completely harmless--which isn't quite the same as entertaining. At least director Kurt Johns keeps things moving, thanks in large part to a lively cast; Tempe Thomas, perky but not cloying, stands out. Open run: Thu-Fri 8 PM, Sat 5 and 8 PM, Sun 3 PM, Lakeshore Theater, 3175 N. Broadway, 773-472-3492, $45.
