This world that is rife with violence, strife, and irreverence for life does not need more organic meat and slaughterhouses ["Please Kill Me," June 29]. Soy- and vegetable-based foods that simulate the taste of beef, pork, lamb, and poultry are savory, fortifying, and cruelty-free. As long as we have slaughterhouses we will have wars and it's an unpardonable horror that billions of animals are killed to assuage the appetites of mankind's brainwashed carnivores.
