The Three Stooges

For years the Three Stooges begged Columbia Pictures to give them a feature, to no avail. So now that Peter and Bobby Farrelly have brought Moe (Chris Diamantopoulos), Larry (Sean Hayes), and Curly (Will Sasso) back to the big screen, the original trio must be smiling down from heaven (before they beat the crap out of each other). The story is so dumb it could have come right out of a Stooges two-reeler, and despite the fact that the Farrellys have set this in the present, with jokes about iPhones and reality TV, the act never gets old. Oddly, the crazed slapstick battles aren’t nearly as funny as the Stooges’ arsenal of name-calling and goofy noises, expertly re-created here. It’s a shock to realize that, despite all the bent crowbars and flattened sledgehammers, the team's comedy was largely verbal (well, OK, vocal). With Jane Lynch, Jennifer Hudson, and Larry David.
