The Sweat Girls Are: Tribal Elders

When: Saturdays. Continues through Jan. 24 2015
Price: $10
For more than 20 years, the actor-monologists in the Sweat Girls have been respected for their rambunctious, self-deprecating, undeodorized personal histories. Previewing last year's Fillet of Solo performance festival, Reader critic Tony Adler referred to the troupe as the fest's "indisputable tribal elders." The title of this year's contribution suggests that the Sweat Girls may have taken the moniker to heart; if so, the results underachieve. Wit can be wisdom, and by that measure the group is plenty wise. But in this show breezy monologues musing on middle age and parenthood veer into feeble pleasantries and offerings of advice. —Jena Cutie
