Playwright Julia Weiss has a crush on 1950s monster flicks, and it shines through this uproarious send-up like a radioactive meteor in a cornfield. With a green alien blob terrorizing local teens, Mr. President (Steve Thomas) immediately suspects the international Commie Irish conspiracy ("God himself took their potatoes, yet still they live!"). Thomas and the rest of Anneliese Toft's cast nail the earnest absurdity of B-movie acting with devastating precision while avoiding snark or in-jokes. Weiss has a virtuosic way with inane one-liners and has found actors who know how to deliver them. --Keith Griffith
