With the Italian comedy Mid-August Lunch (2008), writer-director-star Gianni Di Gregorio told the poignant story of an aging divorced man who winds up babysitting his sun-baked, nonagenarian mom and three other old hens. They all return in this 2011 sequel, though the senior citizens recede to the periphery as the hero, egged on by his doctor buddy, wistfully covets four attractive women who are many years his junior. Like the first movie, this one is so mild that it can seem banal, but there's a genuine edge to the hero's rueful sense that his best days are behind him: from the vantage point of mid-August, the warmth of May turns out to be every bit as painful to contemplate as the chill of December. In Italian with subtitles.
