The Renaissance Man at Julius Meinl

When: Fri., Jan. 8, 8 p.m. 2010
Jovan Mihailovic is a true Renaissance man, playing violin brilliantly at the coffeehouse but also painting, writing, directing and acting while not performing at Meinl. Jovan left his homeland, Serbia, in 1965 to seek political refuge in Sweden. Penniless and unable to speak the language, Jovan soon became a commissioned artist with work shown at the prestigious Bohman Gallery in Stockholm. Jovan plays on a hand-crafted violin with his musician partner of 26 years, Alex Udvary. Alex plays the cimbalom, a beautifully hand-crafted instrument that looks like a small dulcimer but sounds much more like a piano. They are an outstanding duo not to miss!
