You've got to wait for the good stuff in Frank Mahon and Milissa Pacelli's bumpy adaptation of Green Rushes, the 1935 story collection by Irish writer Maurice Walsh. Most of the hour-plus first act treats the Irish Revolution and its impact on a group of neighbors, relations, and childhood friends like a History Channel highlights reel--a problem Susan Felder's perfunctory direction exacerbates. But the domestic focus of the second act gives the talented cast a strong narrative to sink their teeth into, and if you can overlook the incessant retrograde gender politics--men beating each other up to prove their courage to suspicious women--Walsh's moving tale of hearts rent asunder and reunited will repay your patience. --Justin Hayford
