One of the traditional highlights of J.M. Barrie's classic is the "flying"--characters lifted aloft by stage machinery. But no one watching this outdoor, ambulatory Theatre-Hikes production seemed to mind when the actor playing Mr. Darling rolled up his sleeves and hoisted Peter Pan up by the thighs. Credit the lasting appeal of Barrie's playful 1904 script, a highly physical staging by Lavina Jadhwani, and the ensemble's accomplished clowning. Visual cues get the story across even when the words are lost in the wind or the roar of a jet. The show's little extra gift is the sense of community created as performers and audience trek to each new location, then break out the props, folding chairs, and blankets. --Laura Molzahn
