The Pale Figures are an Alternative Indie Pop Rock Band based in the USAThe band features the song writing of Chicago based musician Aaron Lindstrom and New York based singer songwriter Cory Larson The song writers traded songs through the mail for a period of two years with the intent of recording in Memphis and Chicago The Memphis half of the album contains songs which explore the spirit of Memphis In contrast Mr Albini helped The Pale Figures capture a raw and true sound that is more indicative of the modern Chicago sound The basic concept of the album was inspired by the long lived rivalry between Sun Studio Memphis and Chess Records Chicago With that in mind The Pale Figures set out to contrast the classic Memphis sound with the modern Chicago sound The result is a 19 song record titled Memphis and Chicago Martyr\'s.
