The Living Comic Book and Novel Concept

Too many people with too few ideas make for a lackluster show: most of ArcTangent Productions' nine ensemble members net a laugh apiece during this double bill. Though James Asmus, Jady Brooks, and Joe White make bold choices and bring up the overall laugh count, it still doesn't add up to an entertaining evening. The troupe is developing its improvisational chops, and the show's framing devices work against it: having the audience pose cutouts of people, props, and places on easels to inspire The Living Comic Book results in underdeveloped randomness. The problem continues in the second half, when Brooks as the narrator and director Tony Rielage on lights fail to focus Novel Concept.
