The Late Henry Moss | The Artistic Home | Theater & Performance | Chicago Reader
This is a past event.
When: Thursdays-Sundays. Continues through Aug. 3 2014
Price: $28-$32
At the beginning of this rarely staged work by Sam Shepard, brothers Earl and Ray unpack their dead father’s tools and argue over whom they belong to. In the end they come to agree they're nobody’s. In between the play unpacks memories like those same tools, unfolding and repackaging them until they’re unrecognizable even to those who claim to own them. But the bulk of them involve the brothers’ old man—"He just like the human smell," a neighbor says of the now deceased Henry Moss. The whole cast wows, especially Frank Nall as the hulking Henry Moss and Julian Hester, whose meticulous choices bring fleshy life to a small-town boy from Texas. —Chloe Riley
