Jason Robert Brown's intimate, two-person musical about the rise and fall of a marriage premiered at Northlight Theatre in 2001; Another Production Company gives it a respectable if barebones revival here under the direction of Toma Tavares Langston and Raymond Cleveland. Brown's couple, an actress and a self-absorbed author, attempt to relive the innocence of their relationship and make sense of what went wrong. The show's eclectic musical style and unconventional structure express the emotional dissonance and isolation that comes with never quite being on the same page as your lover. As the actress, Dominique Reid lacks the vocal gusto her role calls for, but Rob Riddle shines as the tragic husband, and Charlotte Rivard-Hoster's musical direction makes for a capable, sometimes affecting production. —Dan Jakes
