While making the many bad decisions that led to this little musical fiasco, Francine B. Ivey made one very smart one: she chose to surround herself with trained actors. Even a middling good professional player knows how to fall back on charm when all else fails, and all else fails here. The cast deploy high doses of appeal in their attempt to negotiate Ivey's ill-conceived and incoherent dating-scene chronicle--based on her own novel--in which each new lover is nastier or more pathetic than the last, as well as to carry Ivey herself, who plays the lead despite a lack of rudimentary skills. They can't save the show, but they make it less of a chore to watch. --Tony Adler
