Catfishing—pretending to be someone else to get victims into romantic relationships—is different from goldfishing, at least as Goldfish Project creator Shawn Bowers defines it. Posing as pretty twentysomething Margie Simmons, aka sweeterbaby4u, he has conversations with men on online dating sites. But if he were trying to create an emotional connection with those men, he probably wouldn’t pretend that Margie has open gashes on her stomach inflicted by a giant lizard an uncle gave her, or that she has a sexual obsession with Ray Romano. The goal is pure entertainment, and it generally succeeds: in this staged reading with other New Colony actors, Bowers (as Margie) delivers some gems. After one potential love interest tells Margie in explicit detail what he'd like to do to her in bed, Bowers writes back, "Please continue. I'm wet as a dish towel." —Julia Thiel
