Ten years after being raped by a pair of U.S. servicemen in Okinawa, a young Japanese woman (Erika Oda) travels to Chicago and kidnaps the teenage son (Katori Eason) of one culprit (Sean Nix). The father has since come to Jesus, but as the heroine says with unintended poetry, “What he did never change.” The premise is inherently melodramatic, and the woman's revenge plot seems rather circuitous at that, but these problems are overcome through the solid performances and a lean, unsentimental script by local writer-directors Junko Kajino and Ed Koziarski. 72 min.
