The Evening Bell

A war film of sorts (1988) from the People's Republic of China, directed by Wu Ziniu, with a plot that recalls that of Josef von Sternberg's last film, Anatahan. After the Japanese surrender in 1945, a five-man Chinese patrol discovers 33 starving Japanese soldiers who haven't heard that the war has ended, hiding out in a well-armed cave.
