The Dawn Patrol

Edmund Goulding's 1938 remake of Howard Hawks's World War I story lacks the frisson of the original, but as far as studio slickness goes, you couldn't ask for anything more. Errol Flynn and David Niven are among the doomed fighter pilots, and the cornball existentialism has an irresistible lure.
