Rudolph Mate's 1948 remake of Charles Vidor's Blind Alley (1939). The original film, about a killer who takes a psychiatrist hostage, was one of the first American thrillers to dabble in Freud, an approach that became very popular in the 40s. The remake stars William Holden, Nina Foch, and Lee J. Cobb.
