A strong contender for the title of Stupidest Shakespeare Play, this early comedy charts the misunderstandings and zany antics that ensue when two sets of identical twins wind up in the city of Ephesus on the same day. Way past the point when any sane person would've unraveled the mix-up, all the characters are still scratching their heads or blaming witchcraft. Renae Stone's outdoor staging for Spectralia Theatre uses a slimmed-down, 85-minute version of the script, which keeps things moving at a nice clip. And the cast, though a little green, show an aptitude for slapstick. But the show could use a sense of mounting panic to give it some shape and momentum; instead, everybody's screaming their heads off from the get-go. —Zac Thompson
