Action, Thriller
An American businessman (Henry Cavill), wisiting his parents in Spain with his younger brother, discovers his family has been kidnapped by an espionage group that's looking for a mysterious briefcase. Director Mabrouk El Mechri is best known for the French actioner JCVD (2008), a comeback vehicle for Jean-Claude Van Damme that unexpectedly became a meditation on aging, regret, and the impact of U.S. pop culture on European life. The same themes are evident here, yet Cavill (Immortals) is no substitute for Van Damme, whose self-critical performance gave the earlier movie much of its heft. With Sigourney Weaver, Caroline Goodall, and Bruce Willis, who has a few standout moments as Cavill's smug father.
