Bailiwick's annual Christmas musical, now sailing into its 11th year, tells the story of a Michigan ship's crew that undertakes the delivery of Christmas trees in the 1880s to Chicagoans who miss their German homeland. Director Shifra Werch packs in plenty of sentiment and Christmas cheer, though the tragedy at the play's heart seems glossed over. Karl Sean Hamilton returns as the good-hearted captain who makes the dangerous decision to sail the inland sea; his wife is warmly played by newcomer Elizabeth Haley, who adds depth to the production. Through 12/31: see for complete schedule. 12/1-12/17: Thu 10:30 AM, Fri 7:30 PM, Sat 2:30 and 7:30 PM, Sun 2:30 PM, Wed 10:30 AM, Bailiwick Repertory, Bailiwick Arts Center, 1229 W. Belmont, 773-883-1090, $20-$35.
