A muddled story line is just one of the things hobbling this failed 2001 satire by Nikos Perakis. A man (Alexis Georgoulis) who lost all his money in the stock market crash dons a humiliating folkloric costume to work as a restaurant greeter, then meets the mistress of a corrupt corporate mogul and gets entangled in a web of criminal intrigue. In a series of grotesque flashbacks and fantasy scenes, Perakis takes feeble jabs at Greek politics and media, but invests more deeply in car chases, female flesh, and stupid dialogue (“I love you even without a convertible”). The visuals are exuberant, which in a way only adds to the annoying confusion. In Greek with subtitles. 104 min.
