Paroled after serving a year for assault, a man is reunited with his two brothers in Sydney in this trendy fractured narrative (1998), whose cinematic stylishness serves mainly to obscure its theatrical origins. Under the influence of alcohol, drugs, and slow-motion cinematography, they egg one another on, while we wonder just how violent they'll get. Their tolerant mother and the usual machismo get most of the blame. Rowan Woods directed a screenplay by Stephen Sewell, based on a play by Gordon Graham. With David Wenham, Anthony Hayes, John Polson, Lynette Curran, and Toni Collette.
