The Big Wedding

A long-divorced couple (Robert DeNiro, Diane Keaton) pretend to be married to help out their adopted son when his biological mother, a staunch Catholic, attends his wedding. No one quite embarrasses himself in this hackneyed farce, adapted from the French comedy Mon Frère se Marie (2006), and the big-name players take obvious pleasure in their occasional good lines. Barring a few off-color jokes, though, the movie feels like a Carol Burnett sketch dragged out to feature length. Justin Zackham directed his own script; with Susan Sarandon, Topher Grace, Katherine Heigl, Amanda Seyfried, and Robin Williams.
