It's kind of cute the way Barrel of Monkeys try to introduce a little ecumenism into this holiday edition of their ongoing show. One ensemble member dons a yarmulke for half a second, and the word "Hannukah" is spoken. But it's no use. That's Weird, Grandma is a collection of playlets developed by adult actors from short-short stories written by grammar school kids—and those kids clearly aren't into multicultural gestures. Or the religious content of Christmas, for that matter. Their great subjects are Santa, gifts, reindeer, and party food. The program I saw included steroidal, depressed, and Taco-Bell-loving Saint Nicholases, a reckless marshmallow, a manic sleigh-puller, and a learned disputation between a child and her teddy bear. Molly Brennan's ace cast embroider heavily—but also ingeniously, hilariously, and with an loving respect for often inscrutable material. —Tony Adler
