Billy Bermingham is back. A bad boy of 1990s Chicago theater, thanks mainly to his Cannibal Cheerleaders on Crack, Bermingham has re-emerged to direct Sheila Callaghan's eccentric, angry, daring, profane, sometimes wildly funny comic drama about a pair of blood-thirsty sisters on a murderous rampage against pro-life activists and an equally blood-thirsty playwright writing a play about a pair of blood-thirsty sisters. Callaghan also throws in a subplot concerning war atrocities and some references to French new wave director Jean-Luc Godard. In fact, her intensely self-conscious, extremely fragmentary, politically radical storytelling resembles nothing so much as Godard's late-60s, early-70s cinematic screeds. Bermingham's mischievous comic direction sweetens what could've been a deadly serious play. --Jack Helbig
