White people defending racism by calling it irony. Hipster racism is still racism. I could understand its use if you were quoting and referencing the play, which I assume you would indicate by including quotation marks around the word. But, in the context of your piece, you are not. Which would indicate that this word is in your own vocabulary and is one you would use to identify any white person you perceived as having "stereotypical urban black mannerisms". Saying that people being called "wiggers" haven't faced the same hatred is beyond obvious, though the word still gets its roots in the same place. Why is it that when a white person "acts like a black person" the only word we can think of to call him is a word that means "white ni**er." Your word usage offended. People called it out. Just because you don't perceive it as offensive doesn't mean it isn't.
