The Junction

Two young women in a small town compete for the affections of a railway engineer in this dramatic debut by director Urszula Urbaniak. (7:00)

The Executor

A lonely medical student is assigned to care for a critically ill man who asks to be put out of his misery. Filip Zylber directed. (9:00)

Daughters of Luck

Searching for better fortunes, Natasza leaves her weak, alcoholic husband in Russia and travels with her teenage daughter to Warsaw, where she sells herself to an assortment of corrupt, capitalistic men in order to pay for the girl's violin lessons. The material cries out for the irony of a Douglas Sirk, as Natasza faces the emotional void behind the soft-porn glitz, but the film's predictable mix of fantasy and degradation plays like a Danielle Steel miniseries. Marta Meszaros directed. (TS) (6:30)

A literary critic and former poet falls in love with a former classmate, but their relationship is strained by his jealousy and her alcoholism. Marek Koterski directed; to be shown without subtitles. (9:00)
