Dmitri Peskov needn't be so hard on himself. Macbeth's low opinion of life notwithstanding, the seven autobiographical vignettes Peskov presents in this solo show are hardly idiotic. What they are is amiable and mildly engaging—which is a little odd in itself, since they deal with such bleak subjects as his grandparents' imprisonment under Stalin, his brother's suicide, and the psychic suicide his father committed by destroying all the poetry he'd written. Most of the material is presented in visually static monologues, yet Peskov is at his best when he allows his dance-trained body to do the talking. A kind of ballet for arms and a mask goes a long way toward expressing the pain of living under Soviet communism. Presented as part of Rhinofest. —Tony Adler
