Tales of Manhattan

French director Julien Duvivier made this omnibus film during his wartime exile in Hollywood (1942), with an episodic format reminiscent of his famous Un Carnet de Bal. As a formal dress coat is passed from hand to hand, the script passes from writer to writer, including Ben Hecht, Ferenc Molnar, Donald Ogden Stewart, and Lamar Trotti. Among the stars are Charles Boyer, Rita Hayworth, Ginger Rogers, Henry Fonda, Charles Laughton, George Sanders, Edward G. Robinson, and Paul Robeson. 118 min.
