Sweet Home Chicago Open

When: Mondays-Sundays. Continues through Sept. 15 2008
This is supposed to be the first professional squash tournament played outdoors--sort of. Glass walls and ceiling for the Dunlop Double Yellow Dot balls to carom off of will be erected in Pioneer Court, by the Wrigley Building, in time for the final qualifying rounds Wed 9/10, 5-9 PM. The tournament proper runs 9/11-9/15: Thu-Sat 4 PM, Sun 6 PM, Mon 7 PM. You can watch the pros practice Thu-Sat at 8 AM in the glass court, and there are a number of exhibition matches and clinics taking place at various venues; see the Web site for complete schedule. Finals for the annual Great Lakes Open, an amateur contest sponsored by the University Club, will be played in the glass court Sun 9/13, 10 AM (see illinoissquash.org).
