Why, asks watercolorist Susan Edwards, in Claire Kirkwood's plug for the exhibit "Mary, Mary, Quite Contrary" [Calendar, January 19], will people "believe that [the Blessed Virgin] conceived a child without having sex yet can't accept that she might have had a dog"? Because, my child, as the Good Book tells us, Mary had a little lamb!
