92 minutes · 2013

A London social worker (Eddie Marsan of Happy-Go-Lucky) makes burial arrangements for people who've been found dead, trying to track down their relatives and, failing that, put together decent funerals for them. He's a gray little man in a gray little job, and after 22 years the council lets him go, opting instead to dump people's ashes in a nearby graveyard and leave it at that. This mopey British drama (2013) trades in easy ironies and self-satisfied humanism, throwing in a little ugly-duckling romance when the hero, determined to do right by his last stiff, locates the man's estranged grown daughter (Joanne Froggatt of PBS's Downton Abbey). Uberto Pasolini directed his own script.
